The world champion in artistic cycicling wants to show the somersault
also without blessing of the association
The red light shines on the dashboard. Foot of the gas! Only few
serpentine up to the Alb-Hochfläche. There, where is nine months in the year
sensitively cold participates and the streets sometimes still in April as
smooth as glass becomes: Albstadt-Tailfingen. The car-electronics shows degree
zero. How good, that the wide summer-defeats still lie in the cellar no
laziness but pure reason. Deep profile gives the feeling of security despite
red-light.
Tire-changes: Martin Rominger drives with twelve bars and without any
groove. For the traffic, his sport-appliance participates virtually
incompetent, for the trip on the Alb anyway. And however Martin Rominger
participates there nearly daily. The regional-training center of Tailfingen
participates the second home of the sport-student. Here, the art of the
bicycles is driven to the perfection, here, pirouettes are turned on
board-roughly inflated tires; and here becomes world-masters from talents. Four
marks, Martin Rominger has gotten the title, finally in the last year in
Böblingen, and has still brought in the 22 year old with it the world-record.
The jury forgave 348,9 points for his flawless free section. “It doesn't go
much more”, Rominger, that has larded his six minutes period trip with all
difficulties, that the reglement gives away, says. The climaxes: Swiss
handstand on the driver and after it one eight drives, Lenkerstand-rotation and
trick-jump. And finally the Tailfinger specialty: the "toll-jump" of
the saddle on. The driver for the first time shown from Dieter Maute and
invented from the champions-maker Manfred Maute. With meticulous work, it takes
care the 61 year old regional-trainer of it that his cyclists think for years,
over 70 percent of the forgiven world champion titles in the region participate
and landed. A perfectionist and forecasters, wenn's about new practices at the
driver goes: Manfred Maute doesn't want to rest on the successes, not even on
the "almost outbidden" 348,9 points, that would probably be good also
in the next years for further world champion titles. With Martin Rominger Maute
invents already the next newness on two wheels. Roped at the foyer-blanket the
incumbent world champion shows the first sample. He is freely with it into the
driver, the wheel drives onward, but from the view of the highly concentrated
Rominger backwards. Then the jump. Rominger stretches to the back before he
curls up to the somersault. The wheel tilts, but Rominger certainly stands. A
perfect departure if the rules were not there. To the last practice of the
artistic-cyclists, it also belongs that the sport-appliance doesn't fall.
During Rominger his somersault backwards turns, the wheel must roll
approximately one meter further until he can snatch it again. Already, the
lowest sugar with the jump is enough in order to spoil the departure. The
driver is awkward then namely and the bicycle so skillfully moved before clanks
on the foyer-ground." Too dangerous ", the international association
passes a judgment on the spectacular departure up to now. Although new
practices are accepted into the next year into the point-catalog, the somersault
remains outdoor. Martin Rominger feels stopped from the association.
"Here, the development is stopped at the top, and the attraction for the
spectators and athletes gets lost, he is afraid. The sports artistic cycling
steps on the place? "The formula one doesn't drive the same car ten years
of me either”, says Rominger ger and dreams from the attractive sport. The
sports-student wants still to try it time and the officials of their stubborn
attitude discourage. Also with the “Maute-Sprung”, endurance was asked. It
lasted five years. That's until the practice was internationally allowed.
"The way cannot be so long”, trainer Maute says, "otherwise Martin
participates his career maybe already in the end, before be allowed to show
whole he can“. For two years, Rominger has now filed at the somersault already.
Approximately 3000 attempts at the rope, so he estimates, participates
necessary, until the first free flights can be dared. Up to the next season, he
wants to get along the new departure; if necessary also without blessing of the
association."As accomplishment-athletes, I need motivation. There it is
not enough to show year for year like practice, Rominger says. His previous
departure after the end; Pirouette simply from the wheel jumps he wants necessarily
to delete from the program. And if not already the opponents come near at its
power, the world champion drives against the international decisions just:
